Identification help, not appraisal

The Mark Index helps you identify the maker of a piece and the approximate date of its mark. It isn’t an appraisal, a valuation, or a certificate of authenticity. Marks can be faked, reused, or applied to later reissues, and identifying a mark doesn’t prove when or by whom a particular piece was made. For a sale, insurance or estate purposes, consult a qualified appraiser.

Accuracy

We build every entry from the sources listed on it and show where sources disagree. We still can’t guarantee that every date or detail is correct or complete, and we update entries when better sources turn up. Use the site at your own risk.

Trademarks

Maker and brand names, and descriptions of their marks, are used only to identify the products they appear on. They belong to their owners. The Mark Index isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any maker listed.
